SMK's LGT8509-0100F veritical jack

SMK has announced a low-profile 3.5mm-diameter vertical 4-pole jack (LGT8509-0100F) for A/V and automotive equipment. The device seeks to address the need for thinner and smaller parts in downsized A/V equipment designs, such as slim TVs and portable audio devices, and for space-constrained application locations such as the front panels of car audio products.

This new jack's profile of 8.5mm above the PWB surface is among the industry's lowest, according to SMK. This is made possible by SMK's patent-pending technique of setting the plug head on a hole on the PWB.

Combined with AP-3TV series thin jack boards and low-profile 21P RGB connectors or D terminal connectors, the new device will be most suitable in thin TVs where the thinnest possible depth is required. Due to this device's compatibility, sourcing of parts will be easy and panels and PWBs can be shared with those of other equipment.

This RoHS-compliant device is available at 58 cents per unit.
