Taiwan's flat panel display (FPD) industry will register year-on-year growth rates of 19.5 percent in Q3 and 18.6 percent in Q4, according to recent data from the Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK) of Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI).

Additionally, the FPD segment will have a market value of about $9.13 billion and $11.56 billion in the last two quarters of the year, said IEK.

Taiwan's shipments of large-size TFT LCDs jumped in Q3 amid demand hikes from the notebook PC and LCD monitor sectors due to back-to-school season, said Jim Chung, an analyst at IEK. Chung added that rebound in prices of IT-use panels also boosted sales for the segment.

Quotes for mainstream 32inch panels have been stabilizing due to an increase in demand for the upcoming holiday season. This trend shows that range of price cuts for TV panels are also narrowing down in the second half.

According to a recent report from Frost & Sullivan, the global FPD market posted revenues of $65.25 billion in 2005, with figures forecasted to reach $125.32 billion in 2012.
