Toshiba Corp. and Rambus Inc. have expanded their memory-interface licensing agreement.

Under the terms, Toshiba has signed a license agreement for Rambus' XDR memory controller interface cell, dubbed XIO, as well as its PCI Express Gen 1 PHY cell. Rambus interface solutions will be implemented in Toshiba's 65nm process, the companies said.

Rambus' XIO memory controller is the high-performance, low-latency interface to Rambus' XDR DRAM technology. Designed for graphics-intensive applications in consumer electronics and computing, a single, 2-byte wide, 3.2GHz XDR DRAM component provides 6.4GBps of peak bandwidth.
