IEEE 802.15.4-compliant radio communication module from SMK

SMK has announced an IEEE 802.15.4-compliant, 2.4GHz radio communication module. The company said this device was developed in response to growing market interest in the IEEE 802.15.4 as a near-distance radio communication standard due to its ease-of-use and low power consumption features.

SMK's new radio module promises a battery life that will last from several months to several years (when used in the on/off mode). A star network of one N-pair can be structured and a printed antenna incorporating the company's proprietary technology is provided. UART, digital I/O port and analog input port are provided as external interfaces.

This RoHS-compliant device measures 25-by-16-by-3mm and will be available in early 2007.
