MemoryStick micro connector

SMK has announced the development of a connector for Sony's MemoryStick micro, an ultrasmall memory card. This new product, part number CLE9311-0101F, measures 1.95mm in height when mounted, 15mm in depth and 14.9mm in breadth. Its dimensional advantage makes it suitable for thinner and smaller products including mobile phones.

A push (lock)/push (eject) system is employed for card insertion/ejection operation. Despite its compact size, a long 3.5mm card displacement distance has been reserved for when a card is ejected after complete insertion.

A half-locking mechanism is provided to the slider to prevent forced ejection while engaged and fly-out of cards when ejected. In addition, the safety level of data on cards is improved. Also provided is a protective mechanism for insertion of cards in an opposite direction.

This RoHS-compliant device has an operating life of 12,000 cycles. It was introduced in the market this month and is priced at $1.68 each.
