MagnaChip Semiconductor clarified that it is continuing to pursue all legal remedies for the remaining two of the original four patents it has filed in the Seoul Central District Court against Pixelplus, and is considering adding additional patents to its case. The patents relate to image sensor technology developed by MagnaChip and incorporated into the design and manufacturing processes for Pixelplus products.

MagnaChip Semiconductor Ltd, its Korean operating company, originally filed a lawsuit in Seoul Central District Court against Pixelplus Co. Ltd for infringement of four Korean patents owned by MagnaChip last April.

In mid-September 2006, Pixelplus announced that it obtained a positive and commendatory ruling from the Intellectual Property (IP) Tribunal of the Korea IP Office granting the its request to effectively cancel and invalidate the disputed photo diode and sensor patents claimed by MagnaChip. Hence, the claims on the photo diode and sensor patents were completely withdrawn by Magnachip, according to the announcement from Pixelplus.
