TT electronics BI Technologies Electronic Components Division offers a complete line of RoHS-compliant tactile switches for a variety of applications including white goods, medical devices, information appliances, automotive and entertainment equipment. The SWT series sealed switches are available in multiple sizes, as well as surface-mount and through-hole configurations.

Consisting of six seriesthe SWTW, SWT3, SWT4, SWT5, SWT6 and SWT7these SWT switches feature multiple actuation forces and life cycles of up to one million rotations. All devices feature a contact resistance of 100 milliohms and an insulation resistance of 100 megohms. Dielectric strength is 250V, and the operating temperature range is -20C to 70C. Custom specifications are available.

Here's a short run-down of the product families:

  • The SWTW series of through-hole 6mm sealed washable switches offers an operating force range of 160gf to 360gf with a life cycle range of 100,000 to 500,000 rotations.

  • The SWT3 series of surface-mount 6-by-3.5mm switches feature an operating force range of 100gf to 260gf and a rotational life of 50,000 cycles.

  • The SWT4 series of low-profile surface-mount switches, measuring 4.6-by-4.6-by-0.5mm, provide a life cycle of 500,000 operations at 160gf and 50,000 cycles at 260gf.

  • The SWT5 series of surface-mount lightweight switches, measuring 5.1-by-5.1mm, offers a life cycle of 100,000 rotations at 100gf and 160gf, and 50,000 rotations at 260gf.

  • The SWT6 series of surface-mount 6-by-6mm switches tout a rotational life cycle of one million actuations.

  • The SWT7 series of surface-mount 6.2-by-6.3mm switches comes with an operating force range of 100gf to 260gf and a rotational life of 100,000 cycles.

Applications include appliances (dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, paper shredders, and coffee makers), medical devices (digital thermometers, blood pressure measurement, and medication dispensing machines), personal electronics (LCD monitors, remote controls, set-top boxes, cameras, MP3 players, video keyboards) and automotive (radios, steering wheel controls, and CD players).
