O2Micro granted patent for inverter IC brightness

O2Micro International Ltd was granted five claims under U.S. patent number 7,095,392 for its Inverter Controller Automatic Brightness Adjustment architecture.

The patented circuitry controls power delivered to LCD backlight to automatically adjust panel brightness according to ambient light conditions. Applications include LCD panel displays used for notebooks, PDAs, GPS, monitors and TVs.

"This significant patent grant extends battery life in portable systems and maximizes Energy Star compliance for LCD monitors and LCD TVs," said Dr. Yung Lin, executive VP of O2Micro.
