Spansion flash tech drives Lenovo handsets

Spansion Inc. announced that Lenovo Mobile Communications Technology Ltd has selected the company as its principal flash memory supplier for handsets.

According to the press release, Lenovo plans to leverage Spansion's proprietary MirrorBit flash memory technology to bring innovative phones to the Chinese market, enabling advanced features, such as CD-quality audio and up to 4-megapixel photos on wireless handsets. A long-time Spansion customer, Lenovo Mobile currently utilizes Spansion MirrorBit NOR Flash memory solutions in over 10 different handsets.

"Spansion has continuously contributed to Lenovo's success as our principal Flash memory supplier," said Jerry Yu, general manager of material management department, Lenovo Mobile. "Spansion's strong customer service, innovative products and total system solutions approach has enabled us to succeed at answering the demands of feature-hungry mobile users with our high-quality and customized handsets."
