SPDT analog switch offers 'outstanding' THD+N

austriamicrosystems has expanded its analog switch portfolio with the AS1746, an spdt low-voltage dual analog signal switch. The company said this switch features a low on-resistance with a maximum of 0.5 ohm for the normally closed line and a maximum of 0.6 ohm for the normally opened line over the whole temperature range.

According to the company, AS1746 combines the low on-resistance with an efficient channel-to-channel matching of less then 0.06 ohm, reducing the amount of signal deviations between switch channels to a minimum. An on-resistance flatness of 0.15 ohm enables a stable on-resistance over temperature or supply voltage variations.

"A switch needs to be as transparent as possible to the signallow insertion loss and wide bandwidth are keys. Low on-resistance flatness is essential for excellent total harmonic distortion (THD) so there is no signal distortion, which is important for audio applications," said Walter Moshammer, markering director for standard linear at austriamicro. "The AS1746 addresses this need by offering outstanding THD+N combined with superb on-resistance, making this switch ideal for switching high-quality audio signals."

The improved bandwidth of 160MHz makes the device suitable for data and audio signals. The combination of high off-isolation and the low crosstalk enables high signal integrity. The low leakage current of 1nA reduces voltage offset. The wide supply voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V supports a broad range of designs. All digital logic inputs are 1.8V CMOS compatible.

The AS1746 switch is available in a 10-pin TDFN (3-by-3mm) as well as in a 10-bump WL-CSP package, suitable for operating environments ranging from -40C to 85C.
