The new fast high-current (800mA) source/sink buffers from Maxim Integrated Products minimize display flicker for TFT-LCD panels with single-, dual- and quad-channel VCOM amplifiers. Settling time for VCOM is within 0.1 percent in less than 2ms.

The MAX9550/MAX9551/MAX9552, rated for 20V operation, can directly drive the capacitive load in the VCOM layer without the need for a series isolation resistor. In addition these devices feature soft-start to reduce inrush current, output short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.

The MAX9550 comes in a 5-pin thin SOT23 package and an 8-pin microMAX package with an exposed paddle for high-power applications. The MAX9551 is available in an 8-pin microMAX package with an exposed paddle, and the MAX9552 is available in a 14-pin TSSOP package. All devices are specified over the -40C to 85C temperature range.
