Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices has partnered with Tzero Technologies to deliver high-definition (HD) video, including IPTV to homes using ultrawideband (UWB) technology.

"Solving the in-home video distribution problem has been one of the highest priorities for service providers around the world," said Nicholas Ord, vice president of Innovation at Siemens. "Our solution solves that problem with unprecedented bandwidth, QoS, and a 'no new wires' mentality for deployment using standards-based technology."

The multimedia home solution can provide high-speed communications between devices either wirelessly, or using existing wiring within rooms or extending across multiple rooms. The product delivers transmission speeds of up to 480Mbps to support high demands of high-definition video and IPTV.

"Ultrawideband is a standard that's being embraced for high-definition video applications of all kinds," said Mike Gulett, president and CEO of Tzero. "By working together with Siemens, we're able to offer service providers a commercial solution that will help them drive adoption of new video services in both the United States and internationally."
