Silicon Image HDMI transmitter powers ASUS computer

Silicon Image Inc. announced that ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) has selected Silicon Image's VastLane SiI1930 high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) transmitter for its new Asteio D22/D20 digital audio and video (DAV) Center.

DAV Center is a personal computer used to store, access and view multimedia content in your living room. The new Asteio D22/D20 with HDMI capabilities enables end users to seamlessly connect their Asteio DAV center to high definition (HD) displays in order to view premium HD digital content.

According to the press release, Asteio D22/D20 incorporates Intel Viiv platform technology, HDMI and a full array of functions for multimedia enjoyment. With the SiI1930 HDMI transmitter, users can connect to HD displays to enjoy the highest quality of digital audio and video. The SiI1930 features a transition-minimized differential signaling interface and an HDMI output capable of supporting video resolutions up to UXGA and 1080p with up to eight channels of 192 kHz audio via a single cable. Support for high-bandwidth digital content protection enables Asteio D22/D20 users to display HD movies and gaming on HDTVs.
