IGP chips support PCIe, DDR/DDR2 memory

Designed to work in conjunction with its carbon-free VIA C7-D processor for corporate desktops, VIA Technologies Inc. has developed the VIA CN800 digital media integrated graphics processor (IGP) chipset that supports PCIe and DDR/DDR2 memory.

The VIA CN800 digital media IGP chipset includes rich digital media features, including its VIA V4 bus, VIA UniChrome Pro IGP with Chromotion CE video display engine for smooth digital media playback, DuoView+ for multiscreen display, and support for LVDS/DVI interfaces.

When combined with a DirectX 9.0 compatible PCIe video graphics card, such as the S3 Graphics Chrome S20 series graphics accelerators, the VIA CN800 digital media IGP chipset enables OEM and system integrators to design corporate desktop computers that are optimized for Microsoft Windows Vista Premium edition.

Designers can couple the VIA CN800 digital media IGP chipset with the VIA VT8237R Plus South Bridge. As a result, the VIA CN800 offers integrated storage, multimedia and connectivity options, including native Parallel and Serial ATA, multiple configuration V-RAID,VIA Vinyl Multichannel Audio, eight USB 2.0 ports and high-throughput GbE with the VIA Velocity controller.

The VIA CN800 digital media IGP chipset will be available this month in volume quantities. List price is $29 in volume.

Further information about the VIA CN800 may be found at the VIA website.
