RAST 5 tab headers roll for PCB apps

Tyco Electronics has introduced a new line of RAST 5 tab header assemblies for PCB applications. These headers are fully shrouded and available in assemblies with two to eight contact positions.

The line is based on Tyco's 0.250 x 0.032 Faston tabs and is built on 5mm centerlines per the European RAST 5 standard. Available in vertical and right-angle configurations, the tabs are tin-plated brass or silver-plated brass. Additional contact finishes are available on request. The shrouded header housing is UL 94 V-0 nylon. The headers are press fit into the PCB before soldering, which helps perpendicular orientation. These headers are RoHS and ELV compliant.

Faston RAST 5 tab headers are designed to mate with any RAST 5 compliant female receptacle system or individual quick connects of the appropriate position size. There are two different tab versions, one that meets the European DIN standard (DIN 46244) and one designed for a Positive Lock RAST 5 mating connector. They will mate with AMP Positive Lock RAST 5 connectors, AMP Standard Timer RAST 5 connectors, AMP multifitting connectors, AMP multifitting MKII connectors, AMP Mono-Shape tab MKI connectors and AMP Mono-Shape MKII connectors.

Faston RAST 5 header assemblies are commonly used in household appliances to simplify and speed up installation of wire harnesses. Other applications include gaming, vending and exercise equipment as well as HVAC, light industrial and other commercial electronic systems.
