Avago Technologies has expanded its family of Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) interface optocouplers in a smaller, SO-6 package size. Half the size of standard dual-inline packages, the ACPL-P456, -W456 and -P480 are suitable for energy-efficient washing machines and air conditioners, as well as industrial-grade equipment, switching power supplies and inverters.

The ACPL-P456, -W456 and -P480 IPM Modules are said to offer fast maximum propagation delays, and better common mode rejection performance to prevent erroneous driving of IGBTs and to ensure reliable operation under noisy environments. The operating temperature range is -40C to 100C.

In addition, the creepage and clearance specification of these optocouplers in SO-6 pin packages makes them suitable for meeting stringent IEC, UL and CSA safety-critical regulatory requirements.

The ACPL-P456 is priced at $1.41; the ACPL-W456 is priced at $1.41; and the ACPL-P480 is priced at $1.51, in quantities of 10,000.
