Taiwan handset PCB manufacturers Compeq Manufacturing Co. Ltd, Unitech Printed Circuit Board Corp. and Unimicron Technology Corp. have not yet made definite forecasts for the first quarter of 2007, as demand trends turn unpredictable as of late.

Compeq revealed that its 2007 first-quarter shipments will decline by about 10 percent, which is actually optimistic than the average seasonal decline of 20 to 25 percent. The company forecasted that shipment of handset PCBs will likely hit 17 million units in January, although its February and March forecasts remain uncertain.

Unimicron likewise projected a 10 percent sequential drop in first-quarter shipments, according to the company's chairman Tzeng Tze-chang. The company's performance is also expected to be higher than the usual seasonal trends.

Unitech forecasted same-level shipments from December to January, claiming that bookings for the next month are satisfactory. However, it has yet to determine the first-quarter projections for its total number of unit shipments. The maker also expects after-Christmas inventory adjustments in February to affect demand.
