Lenovo passed the baton for the company's worldwide strategic direction to Cuong Do, appointing him as senior VP and chief strategy officer. Cuong replaces Yibing Wu, who has been appointed to head the company's business transformation. Both will report to Lenovo's CEO William Amelio.
"Cuong has helped improve the performance of many leading international businesses," said Amelio. "His experience will help us as we continue to build our company worldwide, and our customers will benefit from his ability to get results."
Do was most recently director and senior partner at McKinsey & Co. In his 17 years at McKinsey, he worked with technology leaders in semiconductors, computing and consumer electronics and has also lead McKinsey's global Corporate Finance practice. In an earlier role, he has helped build McKinsey's marketing and healthcare practices.
Meanwhile, Lenovo will adopt a new business transformation strategy that will focus on coordinating and driving process improvements and operational efficiencies in the company's key activities, working closely with its core strategy.
