Battery packs function as charger for portables

Lenmar Enterprises Inc. has announced a compact line of portable Bat Paks: 2-in-1 universal battery packs that also function as a charger for portable electronic devices ranging from cellphones to laptops.

The three models consist of one powered by 4 AAA batteries (included) delivering up to 14hrs of extended power for devices accepting 5V USB power such as cellphones, MP3s, PDAs and even PSPs. The second is an ultraslim-line rechargeable Li-ion cell providing up to 20hrs of portable back-up power for handheld devices. The third is a compact external laptop Li-ion battery giving an extra 2-4hrs of portability for travellers.

Lenmar product marketing manager, Kernan McCoy, said, "Consumers have come to insist on portability. While the preference has been to smaller slim-line devices, people still want the convenience of instant, portable extended run time. This line allows users to extend run-time without being anchored to the car or wall plug. These products are suitable for the teen market, students and business travellers alike."

MSRPs for all these devices range from $19.99 to $149.99.
