Antenna switch module suits multiband handsets

New Japan Radio Co. Ltd has announced the NJG1634LK5, a switch module suitable for antenna switching in 4-band compatible mobile phones (GSM2, GSM900/GSM1800 + CDMA 2, CDMA800/CDMA1900).

Mobile phone usage continues to rise, as do applications for international business and travel. As demand for phones and phone numbers that can be used globally rises, so has the demand for multiband compatible mobile phones.

To meet this demand, New Japan Radio developed the NJG1634LK5 antenna switch module to be compatible with two bands: GSM, which is used in Europe, and CDMA, which is prominent in the U.S.

The NJG1634LK5 is configured with a SP6T switch, a control logic circuit and two low pass filters for sending pathway (one for GSM900 and one for GSM1800), and enabling six-mode switching: sending of GSM900, receiving of GSM900, sending of GSM1800, receiving of GSM1800, sending and receiving of CDMA800 and sending/receiving of CDMA 1900. This device is also applicable to GSM+UMTS.

Samples and production volumes of NJG1634LK5 are currently available. Packaged in a 4.5-by-3.2-by-1mm LCSP16-K5, this antenna switch module is priced at $2.51 per unit.
