SMC Networks has announced the shipment and availability of the first products in its line of wireless networking solutions that comply with the 802.11n draft v1.0 specification.

Designed for demanding applications like gaming, high-definition video streaming, file sharing and VoIP, these draft 802.11n products claim data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps!25x the rate of standard 802.11b devices and 5x the rate of 802.11g.

The SMC Barricade N wireless 4-port broadband router (SMCWBR14-N) is an all-in-one networking solution for connecting wired or 802.11b, g or n wireless devices to share cable or DSL connections. This platform-independent, multi-function router combines a 4-port 10/100Mbps LAN switch with Automatic MDI-MDIX and a wireless access point (AP) that supports speeds up to 300Mbps. Features of this high-performance 802.11n-draft router go beyond speed!it is secured by a NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), incorporates Intelligent stream handling technology and comes with a user-friendly Web-based management interface for ease-of-use.

MIMO tech
The device's built-in wireless AP maximizes performance and compatibility with next-generation IEEE802.11n draft v1.0 specification compliance!incorporating advanced MIMO technology to deliver speed and range!while maintaining full backward-compatibility with the IEEE802.11b/g standards. Its advanced technology provides enough bandwidth to stream HD video, listen to digital music, play online games, transfer large files, make VoIP calls and surf the Internet!simultaneously. Incorporating Wi-Fi multimedia technology for QoS via prioritization and optimization of applications, and the latest WPA/WPA2 as well as WEP 64bit and 128bit wireless encryption for secure connection of both new and legacy devices, the SMC Barricade N wireless 4-port broadband router embodies the concept of making available the newest technologies, while accommodating the reality of evolving networks that include both new and older technology.

Pure draft-n
The EZ Connect N wireless PCI adapter (SMCWPCI-N) and EZ Connect N wireless Cardbus adapter (SMCWCB-N) make pure draft-n connections possible for the ultimate in performance. Connected to a network anchored by an SMC Barricade N wireless 4-port broadband router (SMCWBR14-N) they make 802.11n-draft's truly blazing throughput a reality, providing instant, seamless high-speed network connectivity. The EZ Connect N wireless PCI adapter (SMCWPCI-N) and EZ Connect N wireless Cardbus adapter (SMCWCB-N) bring wireless connectivity to desktop and notebook computers to enable fast connections (up to 300Mbps) and great coverage with the same enterprise-class security provided by SMC's 802.11n-draft wireless networking family.

Tested and tuned to deliver on the speed and throughput promise of the upcoming 802.11n standard, SMC's first 802.11n draft products are available today. Priced at $119.99, $89.99 and $79.99, the SMCWBR14-N, SMCWPCI-N and SMCWCB-N are fully backward-compatible.

These products claim to put the performance of 802.11n within reach while keeping .11b and g clients in the loop.
