Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) has announced what is said to be the first Zigbee 2006-compliant platform. TI achieved compliance for its Z-Stack, the Zigbee solution on the market, which is certified for the CC2420 transceiver and the CC2430 SoC.

The Z-Stack received Golden Unit status, which is awarded to the first platforms to implement the latest version of the Zigbee standard and to pass independent testing by one of two Zigbee qualified testing labs. Golden Units are then established as reference points for future Zigbee compliant platform testing.

The CC2430 is the first Zigbee SoC solution combining the performance of the CC2420 RF transceiver with an industry-standard enhanced MCU that offers 8Kbyte of RAM and a rich peripheral set.

The CC2420ZDK Pro and CC2430ZDK Pro kits deliver all the elements required for Zigbee development, including hardware to evaluate, demonstrate, prototype and develop software targeting various Zigbee applications. The kits also include the following software: Z-stack, TIMAC, an evaluation version of IAR Embedded Workbench and application examples.
