Bosch Sensortec expanded its product line of triaxial sensors with the release of the SMB380 acceleration sensor, which features a customized setting function. Targeted at consumer electronics, the SMB380 is suitable for human machine interfaces (HMI), free-fall detection, as well as mobile and ultra-low-power applications.
The SMB380 sensor supports customer products in evaluating movement profiles and in releasing reactions via an interrupt line. The sensor logic can be configured with the help of a programmable interrupt pin to analyze high-g or low-g thresholds or to recognize gentle movements.
Measuring 3-by-3-by-0.9mm, the SMB380 consumes 1?A in standby and less than 200?A in operation mode. This sensor generates a 10bit output signal which is transmitted via a serial interface that is programmable in I?C or SPI mode. In addition, the SMB380 features an interrupt signal. Different measurement ranges can be configured using the serial interface of 2-, 4- and 8g.
The SMB380 will be available as an engineering sample starting this month (January 2007), with series production scheduled in June 2007.
