Keywords:Motorola? DARTdevices?

Motorola Inc.'s venture arm has made an investment in DARTdevices Corp., a developer of a disruptive software technology for consumer devices. Financial terms of the agreement were undisclosed.

Founded in 2003, DARTdevices has developed software that allows multiple consumer devices to directly access the combined content and apps of DART-enabled devices such as cellphones and PCs. DART software addresses the software distribution, versioning, security, hardware compatibility and synchronization issues associated with device-to-device interaction.

"DART's solution, which helps facilitate interoperability for multiple applications on disparate devices, aligns well with Motorola's vision of seamless mobility," said Tony Palcheck, investment manager, Motorola Ventures. "Their software allows wired and wireless distribution of applications, games and information such as music, photos, video, calendars and data, across mobile phones, PCs, Internet servers, PDAs, set-tops, MP3 players and DVRs."
