Actel Corp. announced that it has broadened its sales network in China with the addition of two new distributors and four new value-added resellers (VARs).

According to the company, Acromax, Alltek, Asiacom, Plexus, Ipro and ZLG will expand the company's geographic footprint and increase its presence in key telecommunications, industrial control, consumer and multimedia accounts in the region.

With the appointments of distributor Asiacom and VARs Acromax and ZLG in China, the full range of Actel's FPGAs are now available to design engineers in such diverse locations as Chengdu, Chongqing, Harbin, Hefei, Shenyang, Wuhan and Xi'an, the company said. New Taiwan distributor, Alltek, and VARs Ipro and Plexus, round out Actel's move to increase market penetration in China.

"We see great value in continued investment in the Greater China region and today's announcement highlights our push for increased market penetration with the company's single-chip, flash-based FPGA technologies," said Dennis Kish, senior vice president, sales and marketing at Actel.

Commenting on the appointments, Rick Lain, director of sales, Asia Pacific, said, "The expansion of the sales channel is critical moving forward, particularly as we respond to the sharp increase in customer inquiries in the region following the introduction of the low-power IGLOO family."
