Maxim Integrated Products Inc. has inked a partnership agreement with Seiko Epson Corp. to manufacture Maxim's mixed signal semiconductor products designed for power-management and battery-management applications.

According to the press release, the products will be manufactured in Epson's submicron 200mm fab located in Sakata, Japan and will ship primarily to the Japanese and Asian Pacific markets. As part of the alliance, Maxim and Epson will bilaterally trade key mixed-signal process technologies and deploy them at Epson's Sakata fab.

"Expectations for zero-defect quality and lead-time reduction require our industry to rise to the challenge and deliver the demands of our customers' end markets," said Tunc Doluca, Maxim's president and CEO. "Maxim is excited about the possibilities of this strategic partnership with Epson to help us achieve new levels of customer satisfaction. This alliance also gives Maxim capacity burst in the near future on several important products now in design for consumer electronic and automotive applications."
