Broadcom's HEDGE mobile processor targets HSDPA, W-CDMA

Broadcom announced its BCM2153 HEDGE baseband processor for mobile phones operating on HSDPA and W-CDMA networks. The BCM2153 processor features hardware acceleration blocks for both modem and multimedia capabilities and an 312MHz ARM11 CPU. The chip supports up-to-3.2Mpixel cameras; TV-out functionality for displaying phone content onto standard TVs; 30fps video capture and playback at CIF or QVGA resolutions for MPEG4, H.263 or H.264; and support for T-DMB and DVB-H mobile TV standards. Audio features include 64-voice polyphonic ringtones, stereo audio DACs and two pair of stereo audio amplifiers. An on-chip 480Mbps USB 2.0 OTG port is also provided for downloads.
