A H-bridge driver series from Rohm Co. Ltd incorporates a new VREF variable system for high-efficiency operation of brush-commutated motors with low-power consumption and without changing the input voltage level. This simplifies part replacement while providing optimum motor drive operation with minimal design changes, said the company. Typical applications include audio/visual equipment, PC peripheral devices, office equipment and home appliances.

The BD6221 H-bridge drivers support a wide range of supply voltages from 3V to 36V and output currents up to 2A. The drivers also achieve lower circuit current under no load conditions about 1/10 to 1/20 that of conventional LSIs. In addition, a power-saving circuit is integrated to suppress standby current, which contributes to an energy-efficient circuit design, and it comes equipped with protection circuits for overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating and undervoltage lock-out.

The BD6221F allows for direct PWM control, and provides low standby current (0?A) under motor stop condition. The operating temperature range is -40C to 85C.

Pricing is 50 cents each (minimum purchase of 2,500 units). Samples are available with a lead time of 12-14 weeks ARO.
