Avago Technologies has added three highly integrated, high-speed infrared components to its product line. The ASDL-7021 is an LSI Fast Infrared (FIR)/Very Fast Infrared (VFIR) controller in a 48-pin TFBGA package that measures 1.2-by-4-by-4mm. ASDL-7021 supports infrared IrDA transfer speeds, including SIR (115.2Kbps), MIR (1.152Mbps), FIR (4Mbps) and VFIR (16Mbps). The ASDL-7021 complements the company's infrared IrDA transceivers and IrSimple protocol software, providing engineers with a comprehensive product for high-speed wireless connectivity.
The ASDL-7021 also includes an on-chip buffer memory and DMA that enables it to access peripheral I/O and memory from its system bus. Encoding and decoding IR signals, the ASDL-7021 serves as an interface to a host MCU using an 8bit memory mapped interface.
Avago also announced two miniature IR transceiversthe ASDL-3212 and ASDL-3023. Supporting speeds of up to 4MbPs, the ASDL-3023 is a FIR transceiver capable of transmitting remote control signals over 8m and has a power-saving feature that allows design engineers to achieve superior power consumption with no compromise in performance.
The ASDL-3212 is a small form factor MIR transceiver. The ASDL-3212 transfers data at 1.152Mbps and offers smart IOVCC input for a flexible, low-voltage range logic interface and extended link distance capability. It is housed in a 1.64-by-2.73-by-7mm, ChipLED, Pb-free surface mount package.
Pricing for the ASDL-7021 begins at $2.50 in moderate volumes; the ASDL-3212 is priced at $1; and ASDL-3023 is priced at $1.50 in moderate volumes.
All three products are available today through Avago's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners.
