Intel Corp. disclosed early this week (March 5) it has settled all patent infringement suits pending with AmberWave Systems Corp. related to AmberWave's strained silicon patent portfolio.

Under the agreement, Intel said it has received a license to all AmberWave patents and patent applications either existing today or filed during the agreement's 10-year term. The companies also have agreed to continuing discussions and evaluation of AmberWave's ongoing technology research and development efforts, Intel said.

Intel also said it will make license payments to AmberWave over the term of the agreement. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

AmberWave initially filed suit against Intel alleging infringement of strained silicon patents in July 2005. In a separate action, AmberWave, originally an MIT spinout, filed a counterclaim against Intel in the federal district court in Delaware, United States, alleging infringement of another patent. Two months later, AmberWave sued Intel over another patent.
