Korea's Mogem to set up plant in India

Korean handset parts maker Mogem Co. is said to be considering setting up a plant in India, a move to create synergy with its biggest partnerMotorola, according to a The Korea Herald report.

The report said that the company is set to begin preliminary inspection in Chennai, India later this month to check on the feasibility of the plant construction.

According to industry sources, the plant will be optimized for the manufacture of window lenses and caller line identification for Motorola's RZAR and KRZR mobile phones.

Mototola accounts for about 85 percent of Mogem's revenue. The mobile phone maker operates a $100-million plant in Chennai and plans to build addition cluster consisting of parts suppliers near its plant.
