VCXOs from Fox Electronics

Fox Electronics has announced that its XpressO line of voltage controlled crystal oscillators (VCXOs) has low levels of jitter and high-performance features that make it possible for more information to be transmitted than with traditional programmable oscillators. This high data transfer rate can directly affect the bottom line of service providers, such as cellphone and cable companies, whose success is dependent on their ability to send and receive information.

The XpressO family is available in LVDS and LVPECL versions, and costs 30 percent less than traditional LVDS/LVPECL quartz oscillators. These VCXOs employ noise-reducing DSM technology and proprietary low-noise architecture to decrease jitter and phase noise. Their new design and ASICs allow for accurate performance, decreased costs, shorter lead times and increased flexibility, the company said. Available package sizes for the 3.3V XpressO VCXOs are 7.5-by-5mm and 5-by-3.2mm. Because pricing does not vary depending on package size, there is no price increase for purchasing a smaller package.

The XpressO devices have a frequency range from 1MHz to 1.1GHz and stabilities as tight as 20ppm. Next day shipment is offered for samples and within 10 days for production quantities.

Pricing for XpressO VCXOs varies depending on the output, frequency and stability needed. A 3.3V, 50ppm APR, LVDS/LVPECL, 212.5MHz device costs $5.17 each in quantities of 1,000.
