Winbond Electronics Corp. America has introduced the first two products in its new USB audio controller seriesthe W681306 and W681307.

W681306 is said to be the first highly integrated IC for building a PSTN and USB interface dual-mode phone or gateway application, integrating a standard fast 8bit 8051 MCU featuring a PSTN port with caller ID and DTMF tone support. Also standard are a USB 1.1 interface port and PCM bus to support other peripheral voice or audio devices in a single-chip package.

W681307, on the other hand, is claimed to be the first USB controller for the VoIP market, integrating a 16bit ADC/DAC and digital AEC/AGC to support USB speaker phone applications in single-chip packages. This results in reduced board space and the lowest BOM costs in the industry for PC-based VoIP applications, the company said.

"Winbond's strategy is to provide a complete line of USB and PC-based VoIP solutions," said Saleel Awsare, executive VP and general manager for mixed signal products at Winbond. "We have specifically introduced the W681306 and W681307 for corded USB VoIP applications. We have also released the W93562 at the same time for USB cordless IP telephony applications to provide our customers with solutions to easily build a full line of USB VoIP products."

Both W681306 and W681307 are designed for PC-based VoIP applications targeting USB handset, USB speaker phone, PSTN/USB dual-mode phone, USB PSTN gateway and USB analog telephone adapters.

W681306 includes an integrated 4-channel PCM mixer for conference applications, an SPI and trade; interface for external serial flash and LCD module support. For building USB gateway and USB ATA solutions, the user can combine the W681306 with Winbond's Voice CODEC or Pro-X ICs. The W681307 includes an integrated microphone amplifier, earphone amplifier, SPI and trade interface for external serial flash and LCD module support.

Both products have complete HW/SW reference designs available and support standard 8051 Keil C development system for rapid deployment to market. W681306 and W681307 are both available in 100-pin LQFP Pb-free packages.

Winbond is showcasing its MCU products at the ongoing 12th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition.
