MS2378 DC/DC converter from BI Tech

TT electronics BI Technologies Electronic Components Division is offering design engineers a fixed 5V output DC/DC converter. Designated MS2378, the 2W converter is packaged in a hybrid SIP configuration and uses a ceramic base and hybrid technology to eliminate any heat sinking requirements.

"Requiring only two external capacitors and no heat sinks, the robust design of the DC/DC converter makes it easy to use and inexpensive to implement," said Mike Ochoa-Hougan, product manager, BI Technologies. "With a wide input voltage range, tight load regulation and current limit protection, the converter is suitable for a variety of applications, including commercial applications with a need for a POL source of low-voltage power for control circuitry."

The MS2378 features a fixed output voltage of 5V (3.3V available) at up to 400mA, and an input voltage range of 12-32Vdc. Line regulation is 1 percent (measured at 16-32V at 400mA) with load regulation of 1 percent (at 100-400mA) with an operating temperature of

-10C to 70C.

The 1-by-0.5-by-0.225-inch MS2378, with lead spacing of 0.10 inch, can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The device is priced approximately at $4 in medium-range volumes, with lead times from stock to 8 weeks. BI Technologies also plans to produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.
