Whether in portable devices, industrial control or medical equipments, a GUI which provides comfort and convenient operating environment has become one significant purchase criterion.

At the 12th Annual International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China), Beijing Feynman Software Technology Co. Ltd demonstrated various MiniGUI-based products, which included a DaTang Mobile cellphone, a dual-mode cellphone for a Korean handset vendor and a Skype phone for a Taiwan company.

Zhang Hon-Liang, Feynman's marketing manager, said that with the increase of processor performance, the requirements on graphic environment have also risen. Since common embedded OS does not contain any graphics interface and graphics development environment, developers have to separately design their own graphics interface, delaying product development.

Feynman explained that its MiniGUI is a complete graphics support system design based on a variety of scalable embedded system applications. As a middleware between OS and application programs, MiniGUI will hide bottom OS and hardware platform, and provide upper application software with consistent function features.

Compared with graphics systems for other embedded products, said Zhang, MiniGUI features various embedded OS support, excellent portability, scalable system architecture, ease of expansion, rich functions and flexible configuration.

"The most important is that MiniGUI has passed production verification, and has already been applied to several products, including those from HuaWei and DaTang. It can be widely used in applications such as industrial control, medical equipment, consumer electronics, and portable electronics," Zhang added.
