Microchip Technology Inc. has announced the 12-member PIC18F87J11 general-purpose, high-performance 8bit MCU family, which offers up to 20 percent greater performance with 12MIPS (48MHz), enhanced peripherals and low sleep power consumption. The PIC18F87J11 also promises a wide range of program memory and peripherals, ranging from cost effective to feature rich.
Besides including nanoWatt Technology for low power consumption in sleep mode, which is suitable for battery-powered applications, the PIC18F87J11 also offers the parallel master port for connection to external memory and displays.
"The PIC18F87J11 family offers more integration and performance, while continuing to provide a benchmark in price-performance for high-end 8bit MCUs," said Mitch Obolsky, VP, advanced MCU architecture division, Microchip. "By undertaking this expansion, Microchip continues to demonstrate its commitment to meet customer needs for complex and cost-sensitive markets."
The PIC18F87J11 addresses high-performance, cost-sensitive markets such as consumer & appliance, industrial, automotive and medical.
To reduce time-to-market, the entire PIC18F87J1family is supported by Microchip's standard development systems, including the MPLAB IDE with Visual Device Initializer, MPLAB C18 C Compiler, MPLAB ICD 2 In-Circuit Debugger, and the PICDEM HPC Explorer Board via separate plug-in modules. A PICDEM HPC Explorer plug-in module for the PIC18F87J11 will be available this month.
The devices in this family will be available in 64- or 80-pin TQFP package options.
