QuickLogic Corp.'s SDIO host controller is now capable of handling Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards with greater than 2Gbyte capacities.

The host controller can be implemented in QuickLogic's PolarPro or Eclipse II device families. Target applications include high capacity storage for navigation systems that hold maps and point-of-interest databases, digital cameras required to hold images and camcorders that use solid-state recording media.

"The recent addition of SDHC to the SD standard really underscores the strong demand for ever increasing storage capacity," said Brian Faith, QuickLogic's VP, solution marketing. "Our SDIO host controller solution with SDHC support allows designers to easily connect high capacity SD cards to applications processors."

QuickLogic's SDHC enhancement is available immediately for SDIO host controllers implemented in the company's PolarPro and Eclipse II families. Contact QuickLogic for information on the supported operating systems.
