Winbond Electronics Corp. has announced the release of its new W93562 DECT/WDCT digital wireless communications chip. The chip features hardware compatibility with Skype and other peer-to-peer VoIP platforms using its built-in USB 1.1 interface and complete USB driver for Internet telephony.

Featuring the company's DECT/WDCT technology, the W93562 is said to be the most competitive single-chip solution for cordless IP phone applications. It can be integrated with Skype software through USB as a cordless Skype phone, or support flexible PCM I/F and powerful API commands to connect with VoIP chipsets.

The W93562 offers both voice functionality and conference calling support among HS, PSTN and instant messaging (IM). The chip also supports all IM applications, including Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger.
