Renesas Technology Corp. has announced the R8J66030FT HDMI receiver, said to be the first to offer three HDMI 1.3-compliant input ports and a CEC control function in a single chip. This receiver makes it possible to improve the functionality and reduce the cost of LCD, plasma and similar flat-panel TVs equipped with HDMI 1.3.
The R8J66030FT HDMI receiver has three input ports, reducing both mounting area and system cost. The company said the on-chip CEC control function, used for various kinds of one-touch operation, enables fewer parts to be used. It also has 36bit deep color support and 225MHz operating speed for 1080p operation.
In addition, the new receiver includes an on-chip equalizer that shapes a received signal, enabling high-speed operation via a long-distance HDMI cable. This feature allows cable lengths of over 20m to be used in 1080p operation at 148MHz. The R8J66030FT also supports High-Bit-Rate Audio format, allowing the reception of content with a high-quality audio signal.
Sample price for R8J66030FT HDMI receiver is $13 in 176-pin TQFP package. Sample shipments in Japan will begin next month.
