Fairchild's FMS6502 video switch

Fairchild Semiconductor introduced the FMS6502, an 8-input, 6-output video switch matrix designed for consumer and industrial video applications including automotive in-cabin entertainment systems, HDTVs, flat-panel displays and A/V receivers.

The FMS6502 offers more functionality by integrating analog switch capability, input clamps, bias circuitry and cable drivers into a single device. It also accommodates standard-definition (SD), enhanced-definition (ED) and 1080i/1080p high-definition (HD) video signals.

In addition, the switch provides selectable 0 and 6dB integrated cable drivers capable of driving dual video loads. It further optimizes system power by turning off unused outputs while the inputs offer a sync-tip clamp or bias option that allows the device to handle video signals with or without sync. The sync-tip clamp option sets the output sync tip level to 300mV (video with sync) and the bias option internally biases the inputs to center signals without sync (Y, Pb, Pr) to 1.25V.

The FMS6502 is available in a TSSOP-24 Pb-free package that meets the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020C and is RoHS compliant. Pricing is at $1.44 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
