AKCP Inc. has introduced a new thermocouple sensor for its sensorProbe8Linux and cameraProbe8 line of products.

The device has the ability to measure extreme temperatures and will broaden the monitoring capability of sensorProbe8Linux and cameraProbe8, which includes data-logging, graphing, remote monitoring and out-of-threshold notifications.

The new sensor can measure temperatures from -270C to 1372C. At dimensions of 0.61-by-4.5mm (sheath diameter), the device has a response time of 0.5s. It has a range of up to 305m in most cases.

The company said this new sensor will open up new possibilities for measuring temperatures in dangerous or harsh environments in heavy industries such as petrochemical and metal processing. Apart from the manufacturing and industrial industries, other uses for this sensor include the cryogenics field, superconductor R&D, semiconductor development and scientific research.

The thermocouple is TCP/IP-enabled and allows temperature monitoring over a TCP/IP network or the Internet. It plugs into any existing sensorProbe8Linux or cameraProbe8 products via a standard RJ-45 connector and can be configured easily via the Web-based interface to monitor and set alerts based on user-defined thresholds.
