Avago Technologies has announced a new, high-performance GbE SFP transceiver for extended link distances. The single-mode, hot-pluggable AFCT-57V6USZ is a GbE transceiver module with a duplex LC optical interface supporting link distances of up to 80km. The RoHS-compliant, high-performance module is optimized for Ethernet switches, multiservice switches, switched backplane applications or high-speed interfaces for server farms.

The company's new small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules enable network equipment manufacturers to add greater port density into their product designs.

The AFCT-57V6USZ features an advanced digital monitoring interface that continuously monitors operating temperatures, supply voltages, laser bias currents, transmitter optical output power and optical received power. It uses a 1550nm distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode and leverages an integrated preamplifier/photodetector. The device is designed with an AC-coupled, differential serial I/O interface; supports extended and industrial temperature ranges; and is immune to ESD, RF fields and Vcc noise.

Pricing for the ACFT-57V6USZ begins at $250 in moderate volumes. The modules are currently sampling and will be available through Avago's direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners in Q2 2007.
