Genesis, Legend deliver DTV platform for China

Genesis Microchip Inc. and Legend Silicon Corp. announced a market-ready DTV platform customized for TV manufacturers to deliver fully featured DTVs to China quickly and cost-effectively.

The DTV platform features Genesis Microchip's single-chip integrated HDTV controller, Chaplin, enabling MPEG decoding and Faroudja video processing combined with a front-end module featuring Legend Silicon's demodulator, LGS-8913-A1.

"This Chaplin-based solution provides our TV customers with the ability to penetrate the Chinese market with a high-quality, feature-rich DTV solution that supports China's new national Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcast System Standard," said Graham Loveridge, vice president of TV marketing for Genesis.

Legend Silicon's demodulator, which receives an IF signal from the tuner, demodulates China's new standard-based IF signal into an MPEG transport stream for processing in the Genesis Chaplin IC. The Chaplin solution then decodes the MPEG stream and applies its Faroudja video processing algorithms to output high-quality images on the display.
