Mini-ITX motherboard suits graphics-intense apps

Lanner Electronics Inc. has announced the EM-9640, a mini-ITX embedded motherboard targeting passively cooled multimedia systems. Supporting ultralow power AMD Geode NX processors, including the AMD Geode NX1500 @6W and the Geode NX 1750 @14W, the EM-9640 promises guaranteed performance for graphics-intense digital signage and panel PC applications.
"Today's savvy system design requires more than just a great price/performance ratio," offered Robert Kuo, senior product manager, Lanner Electronics Inc. "Today's offering delivers fantastic performance, and when integrated as a full system, draws less than 30W of power."
Based on the SIS741CX/964 chipset, Lanner's EM-9640 supports dual independent displays with 3D graphics accelerations and onboard MPEG-2 decoder. Onboard 5.1 audio completes the advanced AV features, making it suitable for standalone digital signage and multimedia applications.
The EM-9640 supports a range peripherals including a Gigabit networking port, four USB ports, four COM ports, parallel port, IRDA, a Mini-PCI slot and a CF slot to round off the range of add-on options for flexibility to fit the target application.
The EM-9640 is available for immediate evaluation.
