Agilent's mobile WiMAX PTC solution

Agilent Technologies Inc. has announced its IEEE 802.16e 2005 protocol conformance test (PCT) solution, which is based on the new E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set. Created in conjunction with Innowireless Co. Ltd, this PCT capability will enable WiMAX designers to verify protocol implementations and accelerate time-to-market.

When equipped with the PCT capability, E6651A WiMAX test set allows equipment developers and test houses to run validated protocol test cases to ensure their implementations conform to WiMAX standards. Developers can also create custom TTCN-3 test cases to fully stress the limits of their designs. Beginning in June 2007, Agilent plans to support subscriber station testing for WiMAX profiles 1A and 3A. Base station test and other WiMAX profiles will be supported in subsequent releases.

The addition of PCT and support for TTCN-3 test case development is the next step for the E6651A. The device has the flexibility to configure a wide range of network parameters through an easy-to-use Windows XP user interface and high-speed precision measurements. It incorporates flexible base-station emulation, IP traffic support and parametric measurements into one integrated unit.

The PCT solution will be available mid-year 2007. Pricing depends on specific system configuration.
