The 25A YV12T25 POL converter from Power-One Inc. delivers 0.8-5.5Vdc from a 10-14Vdc input, eliminating the need for multiple host-system circuit-pack designs. It also reduces the number of part numbers needed in inventory for board-level point-of-load applications, said the company.

The YV12T25 POL converter provides efficiencies exceeding 94 percent, advanced thermal management techniques, and operation over a -40C to 85C ambient temperature range. Other features include no minimum load operation, the capability to start-up into pre-biased loads, and auto-reset output overcurrent protection. Interface features include remote ON/OFF and remote sense.

The programmable POL converter is housed in a compact 31.7-by-50.8-by-8.50mm SIP package, which minimizes impedance to system airflow, thus enhancing cooling for both upstream and downstream devices, said the company. The use of automation for assembly, coupled with advanced power electronics and thermal design, facilitates a 23 million-hour MTBF.

The YV12T25 is compliant to the RoHS directive, UL94V-0 flammability and UL60950. Certification to IEC/EN60950 is pending.

Pricing is $19 each in quantities of 1,000.

Samples are typically available from stock with production quantities in six to eight weeks.
