Flexible 350W power supply from XP Power

XP Power has added flexibility to its AC/DC power supplies with the launch of MFA350. With the 350W power supply, the base platform achieves 11.2W/inch? power density. The product targets telecom and datacom applications, such as SANs, data networking and post-production broadcast equipment. Its design facilitates a range of packaging and power options, including a hot-swap version.

The base product delivers 364W across the entire input range of 90-264Vac from an 81-by-173-by-38mm U-bracket package. Available in 12-, 24- and 48Vdc output versions, the MFA350 includes a 12V, 1A fan supply and a 5V, 0.3A standby supply and, despite its small size, offers a fully featured signal set including AC fail, DC OK, remote on/off, active current sharing and remote sense. The unit functions at full power from -10C to 50C, and operates at up to 70C with derating. The MFA350 is 89-percent efficient, so only 13CFM airflow is needed for full output power. This has been achieved by the technology optimization, which includes the use of silicon carbide (SiC) diodes to increase efficiency, lower noise and reduce component count.

High efficiency and ease of thermal management make the power supply suitable for telecoms equipment, where high power density and compact redundant power systems are a pre-requisite for space-constrained applications. Hot-swap models have oring FET outputs, front access IEC inlets and extraction handles. The MFA350 family is designed with a 1U x 2U profile, allowing vertical or horizontal orientation in standard telecom chassis. A DC input version is also available.

The units complies to all major international safety and EMC specifications. The MFA350 is available at $175 for OEM quantities.
