New science center to highlight South Korea's R&D efforts

The Ministry of Science and Technology of South Korea will open a science center in Daejeon this week, according to a report from the Korea Herald.

The Advanced Science and Technology Center, located in the EXPO Science Park, will help boost South Korea's advanced technologies efforts as well as the government's R&D projects. The building costs around $10 million to build.

Inside the three-story, 4,423m? center are 17 exhibition halls and a special exhibition area that will display the main research achievements from 17 state-run research institutes in fields ranging from biotechnology, nuclear power, aerospace to electronics and communications.

The science center is adjacent to the international convention center and the transportation safety experience center, both of which are currently under construction. The Ministry said that the three centers will play a key role in promoting Daejeon as a major R&D hub in the North Asian region.
