Silicon Laboratories Inc. is offering 8bit MCUs that integrate a 25-MIPS 8051 CPU, a 10bit ADC with a programmable analog multiplexer and an internal 2 percent oscillator in a 3-by-3mm package.

The C8051T60x family adds more than 60 small-form-factor MCUs to the company's portfolio for cost-sensitive consumer and industrial applications, including toys, camera modules, cellphone accessories, portable devices, home appliances and motor controllers.

According to Silicon Laboratories, the C8051T60x family offers high functional density, letting manufacturers decrease external-component counts, reduce board space, ease design and minimize total system costs. The series is pin-compatible with Silicon Laboratories' C8051F30x flash-based MCU family to allow for upgraded or lower-cost product versions without requiring designers to develop multiple hardware platforms.

A development kit contains all the hardware and software required to develop an embedded system, including a socket-to-program one-time-programmable memory.

Pricing starts at 45 cents each in quantities of 10,000.
