Keywords:current probe? power electronics? oscilloscope?

Agilent Technologies introduced a family of wide-bandwidth, active current probes for oscilloscopes. Low noise, high accuracy and low-circuit insertion loss make the N2780A series current probes suitable for capturing transient or steady-state currents in power-electronics applications.

Using a hybrid technology, which includes a Hall-effect sensor and an AC current transformer, the current probes provide accurate measurement of DC or AC currents up to 500A continuous (model N2780A) or DC to 100MHz (model N2783A), without breaking into the circuit. In conjunction with the optional N2779A power supply, N2780A series current probes can be used with any oscilloscope with a high-impedance BNC input.

The probes are available for $2,295 each.
